 *RULING ON FASTING ON THE DAY OF ARAFAT THAT FALLS ON FRIDAY* By: Ustādh Rasheed Haashim, Ibadan *QUESTION* Asalam Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah Wa Barakatuh Ustādh. Is it true that we cannot fast on Arafat day this 1443 as if falls on Friday except we fast on Thursday since fasting on Friday has been prohibited by the Noble Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Similar questions were asked by different brothers and sisters in Islamic Discussion WhatsApp Groups and other WhatsApp groups I belong.  *IMPORTANT NOTICE!*  _PROHIBITION TO FAST ON FRIDAY!_   ```This year's 'Arafah day accidentally falls on Friday and we are forbidden to make a non-compulsory fast on Fridays by Prophet Muhammad (SAW). Al-Bukhaari (1985) and Muslim (1144) narrated that Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) saying:``` *“No one of you should fast on Friday, unless he fasts (a day) before it or after it.”* _*Hadith*_  ```Narrated Muhammad bin `Abbas: May Allah be blessed with him```  *I asked Jabir "Did the Prophet (ﷺ) forbid fasting on Fridays?"
