_PROHIBITION TO FAST ON FRIDAY!_
```This year's 'Arafah day accidentally falls on Friday and we are forbidden to make a non-compulsory fast on Fridays by Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
Al-Bukhaari (1985) and Muslim (1144) narrated that Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) saying:``` *“No one of you should fast on Friday, unless he fasts (a day) before it or after it.”*
_*Hadith*_
```Narrated Muhammad bin `Abbas: May Allah be blessed with him```
*I asked Jabir "Did the Prophet (ﷺ) forbid fasting on Fridays?" He replied, "Yes."* ```(Other narrators added,``` *"If he intends to fast only that day.")*
_Sahih al-Bukhari, 1984_
```Due to these evidences, Muslims would not be able to fast on the day of this year's 'Arafah. They can only fast on that day if they fast on Thursday (day before 'Arafah).```
Narrated Abu Aiyub from Juwairiya bint Al-Harith:
*The Prophet (ﷺ) visited her (Juwairiya) on a Friday and she was fasting.* ```He asked her,``` *"Did you fast yesterday (i.e Thursday)?"* ```She said,``` *"No."* He said, *"Do you intend to fast tomorrow(i.e Saturday)?"* ```She said,``` *"No."* ```He said``` , *"Then break your fast."* ```Through another series of narrators, Abu Aiyub is reported to have said,``` *"He ordered her and she broke her fast."*
_Sahih al-Bukhari, 1986._
```Since we can't fast on Salah day, we should strive to fast on Thursday and Friday.```
